Emily Barton received her training from Carrollton Academy of Dance as a member of Parker Dance Company. She moved to Kennesaw, GA in 2020 to pursue her degrees. She graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She then graduated from Kennesaw State University’s Graduate School in 2026 with a Masters in Social Work. She was the President of the KSU Dance Company for two years, where she performed in several shows under notable choreographers. She was also the recipient of the Marti M. Graham Memorial Outstanding Freshman Scholarship in 2021. In 2022, Emily danced VIA UNI’s “Sand”, a company under the direction of Xavier Lewis and Mary Beth Stinson. She also joined RISK Contemporary Dance Company, under the direction of Brady Michael, and danced for RISK for all five seasons running from 2022-2026, including RISK’s “Five More Minutes” in January of 2024 and “Under the Same Moon” in September 2025. In the summer of 2024, Emily performed in Admix Project’s “Kairos” as a professional dancer then again in Admix Project’s “Choices” in 2025 and “Letters from an artist” in 2026, under the direction of Rachel Truitt. Emily is currently on faculty at N-Step Dance Academy, Dance Academy West and Duet Dance Academy where she spreads her love of dance by teaching and choreographing. She believes dance is her safe place, has shaped her into who she is today, and hopes to share this with the dancers she is lucky to teach.
