Company Performance Makeup & Hair

Let's start with the makeup

  • All dancers are given the freedom to do their own makeup without having to follow a specific diagram.

  • The only required specific makeup is the Company Lipcolor - Lipsense Blue Red.

  • Prima and Principal company dancers are also required to wear false eyelashes (whichever kind you prefer).

  • All stage makeup is very similar: foundation, dark neutral eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, lipstick, etc.

  • If you need help with ideas on what to do for makeup check out this video!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv8UzAwreIs

She shows lots of great tips and tricks such as using a piece of tape to help make your eyeshadow have a clean line. She also demonstrates some techniques such as contouring that are not necessary but can help to give your makeup a more finished look. As mentioned above, your makeup does not need to look exactly like hers however she is a good example if you're not sure where to start.

All dancers will wear blue red lipsense lipstick for performances. If you need more, please see Ms. Dawn or front desk staff to get it. We keep extra at the studio!

And Now For the Hair

All dancers will wear a low ponytail with their hair parted on the left above the center of their left eye.

It is easiest to start with the hair parted and slicked back into the low ponytail. Doing this while the hair is damp works best and using gel to help slick the hair back will help it hold for hours.

Be sure to spray your hair with lots of hairspray to ensure that your bun stays in place for the whole competition/performance.
